(NOTE:  The “Free Poker Bot” is no longer available.  However, we recommend using the Online Poker Bot v. 4.  We’ve negotiated a deal exclusive to SmokePoker members who are looking for a superior and reliable, undetectable poker bot that is compatible in over 22 rooms.  Use COUPON CODE: SP15OFF to save 15% off your purchase)

NOTE: Online Poker Bot v4 is an add-on for Holdem Inspector Pro. The bot appears to use holdem inspector as a brain to perform the suggested action for you automatically. 1) What Operating System is compatible with the Poker Bot?

This poker bot has full Windows 7 support. It has also been tested in Windows XP and Windows Vista.  It may work on other operating systems, but it has not been tested outside these three operating systems.

2) Does the Poker Bot work on an Apple Mac?

This poker bot is not compatible with a Mac.  However, we have had some clients confirm that it did work using a PC simulator program on a Mac.  So it is theoretically possible.   Unfortunately, we don’t know which software nor can verify that it worked/works with Apple products.

3) What Poker Rooms are compatible with the Poker Bot?

Currently, the Poker Bot works with Full Tilt and William Hill.

4) I’m an American. Where can I play?

Full Tilt is great for Americans!  But also for most of the rest of the world too.  William Hill will work everywhere except USA,Guam, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, Turkey, Bulgaria, Israel, United States Minor Outlying Islands, American Samoa, Northern Mariana Islands, Hong Kong, Italy, Estonia, Cyprus.   This list is subject to change.  Please check with the specific poker room for accessibility updates.

5) Why can’t I select Full Tilt or William Hill when running the Poker Bot?

If Full Tilt and/or William Hill are not a visible option for you to select, then it’s likely you have already downloaded the poker room(s) software already on your computer at one point.  The bot only works when the installer is run through the bot – which of course requires that you not have a current or previous account with the chosen poker room.

6) If I am or have been a customer of Full Tilt or William Hill, does that mean I cannot use the poker bot?

We recommend that you select and join the available poker room(s) that is visible through the poker bot.  However, if you’ve been a member of BOTH William Hill and Full Tilt, then you would have to uninstall and fully remove the software from your computer, then sign up for a new account through the poker bot.

7) I deleted the poker room software from my computer and freshly installed the poker bot again, but it STILL doesn’t show me the option for Full Tilt and/or William Hill.  Why?

If you’ve gone through and deleted the poker room software, and the poker bot, then reinstalled the poker bot and you’re still not getting room options, that means that the poker bot still detects traces of your previous installation.  You’re only choice is to try a manual uninstall of the software and bot including through your registry (not recommended) or try it on another computer.  Remember, you will also have to start a new account on whatever poker room you decide to sign up to through the poker bot.

8) Why doesn’t the Poker Bot work?

There can be a number of reasons why it’s not working for you.  However, the most common reason is having an incorrect chat window setting.  To correct this, try:

  • Full Tilt – Set default chat dealer messages is set to “EVERYTHING”.
  • William Hill – Make sure “Player Actions” is selected under Chat options?

9) Why is Poker Bot stuck on “Sit Down & Play 2 Hands”?

At this point, ensure you seated at the table.  Make sure no other program is running in the background. The poker room software and the poker bot must be the active programs on your desktop.  Sit at the table for 2-3 hands until the status changes to “Let’s Kick Ass”.  If the status DOES NOT change, try the following:

  • Make sure you initially signed up to the Poker Room of your choice through the bot ONLY.
  • “Player Actions” under Chat options is checked off (William Hill) or “Dealer Messages” to “Everything” (Full Tilt)
  • Restart your computer. Start the Bot first. Then open up your William Hill, login, pick a table and away you go.

10) Why can’t the Poker Bot push button on William Hill?

If the poker bot can read the cards and does the calculations, BUT does not push buttons, this may be caused by a different color quality (ie. 16 or 24 bit on your computer.  To solve this, we have created a “debugger” that will return the color value.  Simply run the debugger and click DEBUG when it’s your turn to act (ie. when you can play/fold your hand etc.)

The Debugger can be found here: http://www.intercode.se/andy/SmokePoker_debug.exe

11) What’s an “Invalid Pointer” error, and why am I getting this on Full Tilt?

To be honest, we don’t know.  A very few number of players reported getting “Access violation/Invalid floating pointer operation” error when trying to initiate the poker bot.  We are still gathering information on this error.  It is a hard one to solve and we have not been able to replicate it.  See the final question on this page should you experience this error.  We’ll need you to send us your entire chat log, OS, resolution, screen shots and the other pertinent information.

12) The Poker Bot is working.  But why doesn’t the poker bot win all the time?

The poker pot is an extremely sophisticated little calculating tool that has its own algorithms that makes a best guess as to what the right play should be at any point in the game.  The right play is not always what we humans would intuitively play.  Ultimately, the poker bot relies on two important factors to ensure you end up the winner:  the law of probability and time.  The longer and more consistently the poker bot is playing, the higher the likelihood that you will come out well ahead as the winner.   So if you run the poker bot for shorter durations, you may not experience a consistent winning streak.

It’s sort of like if you flip a coin, the odds that it will land heads or tails is 50/50.  If you flipped it four times, you may get lucky and get four heads in a row.  However, the law of probability still applies to each coin flip.  Indeed if you flipped the coin another 96 times (let’s say), then you’ll probably get close to 50/50 on heads or tails, even though there may be some streaks with heads and others with tails.  The same is true for the poker bot at the tables.  You may win disproportionately or lose disproportionately, but in the end – if you play long enough – it will average out.

13) If that’s true, how is it possible to win with the Poker Bot rather than just break even?

All things being equal, breaking even is exactly what should happen.  However, human nature plays a role too.  Most of the opponents at the tables are not poker bots – they are still human players.  And humans play emotionally and with little regard to mathematically correct plays on every hand.  This is your advantage and what can potentially tip success in your favour.

14) Is the Poker Bot perfect then?

Now that would be something, wouldn’t it?  I believe that the poker bot we offer is the single greatest tool in amateur online poker tables available ANYWHERE.  And I’m thrilled that I can just give it away for free to my valued members/free subscribers.  However, the poker bot will never be 100% accurate or “perfect”.  And the reason is simple.  Despite playing up all the possible probabilities and card combinations, the poker bot always has unknown variables – namely the entire opponents’ pocket cards.  Because these can never be known, the poker bot has to always make a “best guess”.  Also, some human players can play irrationally and dumb luck may give them a miracle four-of-a-kind out of pocket deuces that they raise all the way to the river.   The poker bot cannot anticipate these scenarios with accuracy.

15)  Is there any way to tweak or adjust the Poker Bot?

Yes!  In earlier versions of the poker bot, this wasn’t the case.  However, the current version of the free poker bot allows you to adjust virtually everything.  When you click “Options”, you have the choice of Preflop and Postflop settings.  Each is adjustable based on numerical values assigned to bets on every winning hand combination.  In Postflop, you can let the poker bot play tighter or looser depending on the percentages you set the bot to adhere to when assessing a hands’ potential to be a winner or not.  You can also adjust sliders for “Respect For Aggressive Opponents” at the Flop, Turn and River stages of a table hand.  This setting is especially useful when play online on a Friday or Saturday night when the heavy drinkers are playing [recklessly].   If you muck around too much, you can always bring it back to default settings in either (or both) Preflop and Postflop.  You can spend months tweaking the bot to get the optimal settings that reflect the poker room, tables, and opponents you regularly play.  THAT is the true secret the most successful users use to play and win with the poker bot.

16) Do you guarantee success with the Poker Bot?

Of course not.   While I know many people who use the bot regularly with success (and I count myself personally among them), I must declare that individual results will vary and any results are not guaranteed.  The poker bot is an entertainment tool that you use entirely at your risk and with your own common sense discretion.  Smokepoker makes no guarantee of earnings or success at the poker tables when using the poker bot.  Your use of the poker bot confirms your understanding of the nature and usage of the poker bot software in this context.  In other words, we are not liable or responsible in any way for your usage of the poker bot.  So don’t bet your house and life savings on the play of the poker bot.

17) Back to the technical… I tried everything, read through this FAQ and the Poker Bot comments on SmokePoker.com, and I STILL cannot get it to work!

We’re not sure why you’re having difficulty.  It could be something very unique to your computer.  We suggest you

  • Try turning off any anti-virus/internet security/firewall  programs temporarily
  • Try it on another computer
  • If you cannot get to a different computer and still cannot get the poker bot to work, we’ll try as best we can to help you out.   We’ll need to try and replicate the error(s) to know what’s happened.  Can you send us:
  • Copy of the chat history EXACTLY when the pointer error occurred.
  • Screenshots of the poker room software table with the bot running
  • Your Operating System
  • Your Screen Resolution
  • Your DPI
  • Your Color Depth (32 bit/24bit/16bit)
  • Run Debugger (see #7) and copy/paste/send the color code from the text box
  • Anything else you think of that might be pertinent or unique to your computer.
