PokerProForAYear
It seems that all the positive predictions for poker are quickly become a reality, with the first month not even half over yet. Starting this week, two of the biggest names in the poker world have announced an alliance that is set to make huge waves the world over. Despite the US ban and the touchy approach in several countries, 888 Holdings and PokerNews.com are showing the world that they are determined to keep poker alive and kicking.
These two poker giants are launching a new activity called PokerProForAYear, 6 events that will last 2 months each. These two tournaments will give every poker player the chance to fulfill his dreams – to play poker as a pro. More than that, what the winner will get is an all inclusive sponsorship to some of the most prestigious poker events in the entire world in the following year. Tell me, who has not dreamed of playing in the World Series of Poker, the World Poker Tour Grand Prix de Paris, the European Baden, or the Aussie Millions? With PokerProForAYear, you just might have a chance to enter one of these events!
The tournament format is roughly like this: “At end of each two-month league the 10 players with the most points will go head-to-head for a seat in the PokerProForAYear Final. These six league winners will also be joined by the player with the most points at the end of the year, and the 100 highest point accumulators throughout the year will face off in a freeroll to determine who will be filling the three remaining seats.”
The beauty of the tournament is that more than one person will walk away a winner. The Grand Prize winner will of course bag the most coveted reward – the sponsorship for a whole year in 2008. However, the runner up will also receive a one-year sponsorship for one offline global tournament. More than that, the third place winner will still receive free entries to online qualifiers for offline global events. Now that is something to be quite happy about!
Much excitement is being stirred up by PokerProForAYear, both on the side of the organizers and the poker world in general. According to Alex Reign, the Manager of the Promotions Department, “Sending players to the world’s most prestigious poker events, a secret tournament in an undisclosed location, a sponsorship opportunity from two poker giants – it just doesn’t get any more exciting than that. The world will even be able to watch the chosen face off in the grand finale via webcast, courtesy of PokerNews.”
As the tournament unfolds, everyone can monitor the happenings through the PokerForAYear website. The data will be updated weekly regarding the winners. You will also be able to find the schedule of events plus other interesting extras such as interviews with the winners.
